FASHION DO'S AND DON'TS
Below is a list of fashion do's and don'ts. Everyone knows that you first learn fashion then second break the rules, but here are a list of fashion do's and don'ts you should abide by.
Fashion Do's
A good fit will make your clothes look more expensive.
We all have questions from time to time on what works, what doesn't and what to look for when we are out shopping. Here are a few considerations for today's stylish woman.
Fashion Do's:
•Find a good tailor. Clothes off the rack usually don't fit the same on everybody. People have different shapes a size 10 will not fit the same on you as it does your friend
•Wear different textures in a single outfit
•Hang up as much as possible rather than have it folded in a drawer. You will be more apt to pull it into an outfit while you're looking in your closet
•Mix casual and dressy while selecting your outfit
•Take time to purchase great, well fitting undergarments
•Think about these 6 key items when selecting an outfit:
1.Fit: Make sure it is not too tight or too loose.
2.Fabric: Is the fabric correct for the season and does it blend with other pieces in the outfit?
3.Color: Does the color compliment your skin tone and hair?
4.Detail: Which handbag and shoes are appropriate for the outfit?
5.Accessories: Pick the accessories that highlight and complete the outfit.
6.Proportion: Do your accessories and handbags work proportionally to the outfit and your body?
Fashion Don'ts
•Wear matching earrings, necklace & bracelet all at once. It's way overkill
•Forget the importance of a good haircut and everyday makeup
•Overlook the importance of great/fun handbags & shoes
•Feel pressure to buy something, just because it is a new, hot trend. If it works with your body type, age and lifestyle then get it. If not, stay far, far away from it
Accessories can add spice and flair to an outfit and they play a key role in helping you define your signature style. Because they are so important to your overall look, make sure to keep the following tips in mind when coordinating your outfit and accessories:
Dont Over-Do: Less is more, when choosing what accessories to wear. Matching earrings, a bracelet and necklace will overpower an outfit if you wear all three. Grab some cute earrings and matching bracelets and youll be complimenting your outfit not drowning it.
Hang your necklaces with thumbtacks on a corkboard attached to your closet door: This will make it easy for you to see what you have at a glance. If you have a lot of necklaces, hang one corkboard above the other.
Belts: Belts are back. Wide belts that go over a top or if your top is tucked in, over the belt loops. Thinner belts can be worn as the standard through the belt loops, or worn higher, over your top, depending on your figure.
Cocktail Rings: A fun large ring on your right hand is a great way to show some style. It could be a bright, bold colored tone, or a large Lucite with metal trim. You could even use it to pull in a color within your outfit. Either way its fun and fashionable.
Handbags: Always try on a bag and look at yourself in a full-length mirror. Proportion to your body is key: the shape should generally be the opposite of your bodys and the proportion should work with you and not against you. For example, a small bag will make a large woman look larger and a huge bag will overpower a smaller woman. A great bag, paired with a matching pair of shoes can not only make a simple, casual outfit look dynamite, it will pull together your entire look.
Mixing Metals: Use pieces that are similar in tone, style and shine.
Hoop Earrings: They are a classic and perfect for adding flair to simple outfits.
Natural Wood: Bracelets and necklaces look fresh and unassuming, particularly in the summer.
